NPR's Michel Martin is headed to Detroit, to explore how artistic forces are helping to drive the Motor City forward.
In collaboration with WDET, Martin brings together some of the city's most innovative chefs, performers, artists and craftsmen at The Carr Center for a live, on-stage conversation that explores the many challenges and triumphs they've encountered while striving to redefine life in Detroit.
Martin will be joined by Travis Wright, host and executive producer of WDET's Culture City, and June M. Thomas,Centennial Professor at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan to lead a conversation with a panel of guests. The panel features jessica Care moore, Executive Producer of Black Women Rock!; 'Detroit Unleaded' filmmaker Rola Nashef; fashion designer Charketa Glover; Shakespeare in Detroit theater director Samantha White; Aaron Cozadd, executive chef for Union Joints restaurant group; artist and urban farmer Kate Daughdrill; Shinola'smarketing director, Bridget Russo; and techno music pioneer Juan Atkins. The audience will also be treated to a performance by the gospel choir Larry Callahan and Selected of God.
