I was getting ready to write, "Clint Dempsey was not offsides!"  convinced that we were out of the World Cup and going home with yet, another, draw.

But hold on a second —

"Talk about the American Dream!"

"This is stranger than fiction!"

"...a fairytale!"

The announcers of today's U.S. match against Algeria were full of cliches at 91 minutes in.

The impossible happened (to bust out another one) and Landon Donovan made a goal. "The ball fell to me and time kind of stopped," said Donovan after the game, "you can't miss from there."

Well, actually you can and the U.S. missed a number of great shots on goal, but all we needed to move on, was ONE.

And we got it!

Dare I say it, I mean scream it at the top of my lungs in my cubicle:

"U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A!"
