Back When The U.S. Cared About Soccer

So, yeah, the U.S. is long gone from the World Cup, but this little video on YouTube shows a couple of extraordinary things: First, the sheer joy and the stunning emotions a hard fought, all-on-the-line game can conjure. And, second, that the U.S. does, indeed, enjoy soccer.

The video shows what happened in different parts of the world right after Landon Donovan scored the game-winning goal against Algeria. It was, in the words of NPR's Tom Goldman who sent over the video, a time when the U.S. cared about soccer:
