Go Ahead, Be Grumpy, It's Good For You

Maybe it's because I can't get enough of studies that make fun headlines — or maybe it's because I'm feeling grumpy myself today — but I had to share this BBC story: Feeling grumpy 'is good for you.' Some Australian psychology expert studied happy folks and grumpy folks. Cheeriness apparently boosts creativity, but "gloominess breeds attentiveness and careful thinking."

The University of New South Wales researcher says a grumpy person can cope with more demanding situations than a happy one because of the way the brain "promotes information processing strategies".

His earlier work shows the weather has a similar impact on us - wet, dreary days sharpened memory, while bright sunny spells make people forgetful.

So pardon me if I'm a little testy, I'm just trying to pay attention to details.
