In New Orleans, The Flags Are Still Down

Six Flags, that is. More than five years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the state of Louisiana and surrounding areas, the popular amusement park located in the Ninth Ward has yet to reopen. It was shut down on August 27, 2005, in preparation for the storm to come. And now, the park will be demolished next January.

Check out this nearly seven minute inside look at Six Flags NOLA as it stands today. Graffiti drawings cover the buildings. Paint on the rides has been peeled and discolored. The scenes are both eerie and nostalgic, like a set for a movie based on a zombie apocalypse or the end of the world to come.
