South Carolina's First Lady, Jenny Sanford, is filing for divorce from her husband, Republican Governor Mark Sanford.

South Carolina's First Lady, Jenny Sanford, is filing for divorce from her husband, Governor Mark Sanford. The couple separated this year after the Republican governor admitted an extra-marital affair with an Argentinian woman, whom he had visited in June.

Here is Mrs. Sanford's statement.

Gov. Sanford has now issued his own statement, taking full responsibility for "the moral failure that led us to this tragic point".

This week, South Carolina lawmakers decided against impeaching the governor for his South America travel and possibly misusing state funds. A state house panel recommended instead he be formally rebuked .
