The serious purpose of President Barack Obama's visit to American Red Cross headquarters today was to call more attention to its efforts to help the people in Haiti.
And while there, Obama made a small bit of tech history.
He tweeted on the Red Cross' official Twitter page:
President Obama and the First Lady are here visiting our disaster operation center right now.
More precisely, said the next message:
President Obama pushed the button on the last tweet. It was his first ever tweet!
CBS News' Mark Knoller, who tweets a lot, adds:
"I just tweeted. The first time I tweeted." - Pres. Obama said while visiting the Red Cross Disaster Operations Center in DC.
