Former Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, are separating, according to a statement from a friend of Elizabeth Edwards. Andrea Purse released a statement to the Associated Press saying Elizabeth is "moving on with her life". John Edwards, also the former Senator from North Carolina, admitted last week that he fathered a daughter out of wedlock with mistress Rielle Hunter during his failed presidential bid in 2008.

One of John Edwards' former staffers, Andrew Young, first said he was the child's father. Young is publishing a book January 30th recanting that claim.
