Olympics: Vonn To Test Her Leg; Weather Not Looking Great; Ceremonies Tomorrow

As Friday's opening ceremonies in Vancouver draw near, several story lines dominate at the Winter Olympics.

— Will American skier Lindsey Vonn — a favorite to win several gold medals — be able to overcome her bruised swollen right shin to compete? We should know more later today, after Vonn takes a few test runs.

She "tweeted" just a short time ago that:

So I took a bunch of pain killers and numbed my shin with some creams. Warmup was still very painful but I think it was good enough to give it a shot in the training run. Wish me luck!

— Will the weather cooperate? As NPR's Howard Berkes reports, fog and rain are expected to make things less than perfect for some outdoor events this weekend:

— Will American Bode Miller set aside his bad boy ways for long enough to fare well in alpine skiing? NPR's Tom Goldman reported on Miller (and Vonn) for Morning Edition. At least this time, unlike in 2006, Miller isn't competing under the weight of great expectations:
