Former Rep. Eric Massa Probed For Groping 'Multiple' Male Staffers

Updated at 5:43 PM ET — Former New York Rep. Eric Massa, a liberal Democrat, acknowledged Tuesday on the Fox News Channel show of conservative Glenn Beck that he groped a male staffer but added that it wasn't sexual.

Just because he quit Congress Monday doesn't mean the unflattering stories about former Rep. Eric Massa are going to disappear. Far from it.

The Washington Post is reporting that there was more than the single allegation that Massa, a New York Democrat, had harassed a male staffer staffer. Indeed, the WaPo reports, Massa was being investigated "for allegations that he groped multiple male staffers working in his office, according to three sources familiar with the probe."

The WaPo continues:

The allegations surrounding the former lawmaker date back at least a year, and involve "a pattern of behavior and physical harassment," according to one source. The new claims of alleged groping contradict statements by Massa, who resigned his office on Monday after it became public that he was the subject of a House ethics committee investigation for possible harassment.

After initially seeming to take responsibility for his downfall. Massa, a liberal who represented a normally Republican upstate New York district, made the extraordinary charge Monday that Obama White House officials were behind his troubles.

According to Massa, administration officials wanted him out because he was opposed to Obama's health care overhaul proposals. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called Massa's charge "silly." It's definitely different.

This story only broke last Friday and look how much we've learned about Massa already. And it's only Tuesday. Of course, there are probably a lot of us who are fairly sure we don't really need to find out much more.
