Jobless Claims Dipped By 6,000 Last Week

The number of first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits fell by 6,000 last week from the week before, the Employment and Training Administration reports.

The decline to 462,000 is "the latest sign that the nation's employment picture is slowly brightening," the Associated Press writes.

Bloomberg News says the news "indicates companies are nearing the end of payroll reductions as the economy recovers."
