Economic Indicator: Hundreds Wait Days For Applications To Be Elevator Mechanics

Some were in line outside for four days and a couple hundred left disappointed. In New York City yesterday 750 applications were distributed for 100 elevator mechanics' jobs. As WABC-TV and the Associated Press report, in a still-tough job market the prospect of work that comes with good benefits and training is very attractive:
