GDP Slower Than First Thought

The Commerce Department has revised lower its first estimate of the U.S.' Gross Domestic Product, a broad measure of goods and services to 1.6% between April and June.

That's far slower than the first estimate of 2.4%. One reason: the surging U.S. trade deficit, showing Americans bought more imported goods than they sold U.S. manufactured goods overseas.
