Actor Wesley Snipes has until noon on December 9 to surrender himself to a federal prison in Pennsylvania and begin serving a three-year sentence stemming from tax charges. The AP is reporting that the U.S. Marshall's office issued the order Wednesday.

The 48-year-old Snipes was convicted in 2008 for failing to file tax returns. He had hoped to stay out on bail while appealing his case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The actor's many credits include the Blade series of movies, and the 1998 film U.S. Marshals. In that movie, Snipes played a man on the run from the Marshals service.
