Heavy rains in Colombia have left more than 160 people dead, 1.3 million people affected, 223 wounded and 20 missing, forcing the government to declare a public emergency in most parts of the country. Rainfalls at first mainly affected the Caribbean but now have moved to the Andean region, increasing due to the La Nina phenomenon. Experts agree that they will last until early 2011.
