A Kindle e-book containing confidential cables released by WikiLeaks is now for sale on the Amazon UK website for 7.37 British pounds, about $11.60.
The appearance of the book comes as somewhat of a surprise after Amazon decided last week to stop hosting the WikiLeaks site on its server network.
U.K. residents can buy the e-book through the Amazon website.
The Kindle edition is titled WikiLeaks documents expose US foreign policy conspiracies. All cables with tags from 1- 5000 and its author is listed as Heinz Duthel.
The product description on the Amazon page includes this line:
The Author will analyze the documents more thoroughly in a subsequent article, but "highlights" published by the Guardian and the New York Times are revealing.
Update at 12:50 pm: The AP now makes it clear that the e-book does not contain the entire trove of 250,000 documents, only excerpts:
The e-book, viewed by The Associated Press in London, consists of excerpts along with reports on reaction to the releases from media and government officials. It also has a list of the cables by originating embassy.
Amazon has also added its own note to the page where the e-book is for sale:
This book contains commentary and analysis regarding recent WikiLeaks disclosures, not the original material disclosed via the WikiLeaks website.
