Queen Of Mean Calls It Quits - Weakest Link Host Stepping Down

Anne Robinson says next year she'll end her 11 year run as host of the British game show, The Weakest Link. She tells the Guardian it's her decision and that her salary hasn't been cut. The BBC says it won't replace her - a spokeswoman says '...without Anne's iconic persona and acerbic wit, we have decided that we won't be recommissioning any new episodes following her departure.'

Acerbic wit, indeed. The Daily Mail lists Robinson's 10 Most Venemous Put-Downs, including 'Who is the least likely candidate for human cloning?' to 'Whose wheel is turning, but the hamster is dead?'

There's a list of the 'biggest howlers' from the show. Several of the questions are obscure, but many are not:

Anne: Which animals build dams and lodges? Contestant: Sheep.

Anne: What is the branch of medicine concerned with women? Contestant: Womenology.

Anne: In the Lord's Prayer, what word beginning with "H" meaning "blessed" comes before "be thy name"? Contestant: (quietly) Howard.

As Robinson would say, 'you are the weakest link, goodbye'. In that spirit, here are a few of her outtakes:
