Other News: Storm Death Toll Grows; Shuttle Closer To Launch

More than 300 people died in the severe storms that crashed through six states yesterday, according to AFP.

CNN says President Obama will visit Alabama later today to observe storm damage; the state has seen at least 204 people killed and the worst storm damage this week.

NASA is fueling the space shuttle Endeavour for its launch at Cape Canaveral at 3:47 p.m. ET today. reports there's a 70 percent chance of clear skies at launch time. Politico says wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords will watch as her husband, Capt. Mark Kelly, commands the shuttle mission. Giffords will be accompanied by President Obama.

Anti-government protests are spreading to Uganda, where troops opened fire on democracy protesters in the capital, Kampala. The Wall Street Journal reports rioting began yesterday after a prominent opposition leader was arrested for protesting price hikes in food and gasoline.
