"Eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini and two Mercedes" were among a 14-car pile-up Sunday in Japan's Yamaguchi prefecture, The Associated Press says. Altogether, the value of the smashed sportsters is thought to be at least $1 million — and perhaps as much as $3.85 million, the BBC says.
The super-expensive fender bender fortunately didn't cause any serious injuries. The drivers, all sportscar enthusiasts, were out for a Sunday drive. But video of the scene shows many of the cars look to be beyond repair.
According to The Mainichi Daily News, police say "the accident was tripped off by a Ferrari that skidded out of control in the passing lane and hit the center rail at about 10:15 a.m. It triggered a chain of collisions." They may have been going about 100 mph.
