Courtney Barnett is an extraordinary songwriter from Melbourne, Australia, whose two EPs were recently combined for U.S. release as The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas.

This self-described "hard-working slacker" combines witty wordplay with emotional directness in songs like "Avant Gardener," which chronicles an anaphylactic attack with detail and humor. Barnett performs that song and more in this live session. Also, visit the World Cafe tumblr page to watch her perform a song live in the studio.
