The Aurora Theater Shootings
A gunman opened fire on the audience at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colo., on July 20. At least 12 people were killed, and many more wounded. The suspect is identified as 24-year-old James Holmes, who was arrested shortly after the rampage.
James Holmes had offered to plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence. Prosecutors called that a publicity ploy. Twelve people died and another 58 were wounded in the attack.
