'Gates' Project Unveiled()  

The Gates project curves along most of Central Park's 23-mile footpath.

February 12, 2005 Artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude debut "The Gates" in Manhattan's Central Park today. More than 20 years in the making, the large-scale art project consists of 7,500 large saffron cloth panels hanging in 16-foot high door frames.
