France May Extend Government Emergency Powers()  

November 15, 2005 France's parliament votes Tuesday to extend by three months special emergency powers, which will allow police to impose curfews and conduct searches without a warrant. President Jacques Chirac's government requested the extension despite the recent fall in youth-rioting.
