NPR Desktop Alerts provides news alerts on your computer’s desktop. You can choose to receive alerts for your favorite NPR content or you can receive notifications when new items are available from your favorite RSS feeds on the Web. When you configure an alert for a particular news/RSS feed, you will be notified when a new story is published to that feed.
Customize Your News Experience
You can customize your news experience by adding your favorite RSS feeds from any web site. These feeds can be displayed as an alert, on the scrolling ticker, or in the RSS reader.
News Ticker
The Desktop Alerts news ticker allows headlines from your favorite feeds to scroll across your computer screen. You can add any RSS feed to NPR Desktop Alerts and then decide if you would like to see those headlines on the ticker. You can also listen to the NPR Hourly Newscast with one click on the ticker.
RSS News Reader
NPR Desktop Alerts includes an RSS news reader that comes loaded with 19 popular NPR feeds. Use the reader to quickly scroll through your favorite feeds and read the stories which matter to you the most. You can also add any RSS feed that you find on the web to the reader.
