November 13, 2013 The late artist's Three Studies of Lucian Freud is now the most expensive piece of art ever sold at auction. Also at Christie's, Andy Warhol's Coca-Cola (3) went for $57.3 million. Sculptor Jeff Koons' Balloon Dog (Orange) sold for $58.4 million, an auction record for a living artist's work.
Coca-Cola (3) was one of many of Warhol's pop art pieces, which celebrated popular culture and consumerism in post-World War II America.

August 6, 2013 Andy Warhol once said he would like for his tombstone to be blank. That didn't happen. To honor the icon of pop art, the Andy Warhol Museum, located in his hometown of Pittsburgh, is streaming video from his gravesite.
