August 28, 2010 In the Louisiana Senate primary, GOP incumbent David Vitter will face Rep. Charlie Melancon (D) in November. In West Virginia, Gov. Joe Manchin won the Democratic primary for the seat long held by Robert Byrd, and will face John Raese (R).

July 21, 2010 In a major disappointment to West Virginia Republicans, Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R) announced she would not seek the Senate seat formerly held by the late Robert Byrd in this year's election.
July 16, 2010 West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin will name a replacement for the late Sen. Robert Byrd today, and the Associated Press is saying it will be former Manchin chief counsel Carte Goodwin.
