December 19, 2011 The number of violent crimes reported by U.S. police agencies fell 6.4 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same time in 2010, the bureau says. Property crimes were down 3.7 percent.
March 9, 2011 Jared Lee Loughner has pleaded not guilty to dozens of charges, including murder and attempted murder. Loughner was in federal court to face a 49-count indictment stemming from the shooting rampage that killed six and left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others wounded.

December 20, 2010 "The nation saw a 6.2 percent decrease in the number of reported violent crimes and a 2.8 percent decrease in the number of reported property crimes compared to data for the same time frame during 2009," the bureau reports.
