Kongthaly works at Thanaleng station, the first and only railway station in Laos. He received his training in Thailand, as the Laos station adopted their operating system from Thailand railway.

January 7, 2011 He was known to some of his countryman as the George Washington of the Hmong. Vang fought against the Japanese in World War II, the French in the 1950s and the North Vietnamese in the 1960s and '70s.
