October 5, 2011 "In the eyes of many, it is hard to ask more of household that make $250,000 or $300,000 a year," says Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) "They are not rich" in many parts of the country. So some Democrats are pushing for a tax on millionaires instead.
April 18, 2011 President Obama and Michelle, the First Lady, reported $1.7 million in income for 2010, most of it from continuing royalties from his best-selling books. The Obamas also reported donating 14.2 percent of their income to charity.
