November 22, 2011 A report by the Government Accountability Office found that at least some wild fires are caused by immigrants crossing the U.S. border illegally. Sen. John McCain was accused of scapegoating when he made comments to that effect during the summer.
June 20, 2011 "There is substantial evidence that some of these fires have been caused by people who have crossed our border illegally," McCain told reporters. He did not cite specifics. Meanwhile, calmer winds may give firefighters a break today.
