September 28, 2014 For the first time, the world record in the marathon is now under 2 hours and 3 minutes, after Dennis Kimetto of Kenya tore through the course at Sunday's Berlin Marathon.
Wilson Kipsang from Kenya celebrates winning the 40th Berlin Marathon in Berlin, Germany on Sunday. Kipsang set a new world record of 2:03:23.

September 26, 2011 Kenya's Patrick Makau averaged about 4 minutes, 43 seconds per mile over the 26.2-mile course in Berlin. The previous record holder, Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie, had to stop because of exercise-induced asthma.
