Architect Eduardo Souto De Moura Wins Pritzker

March 29, 2011 The 2011 Pritzker Architecture Prize goes to Eduardo Souto de Moura, a Portuguese architect who blends modernism with tradition and history. The jury noted that Souto de Moura's buildings are "imbued with intelligence and seriousness."

Meditation And Modern Art Meet In Rothko Chapel

For 40 years, the Rothko Chapel in Houston has served as a space for personal contemplation, interfaith dialogue and action for human rights. The sanctuary was created by Mark Rothko, who committed suicide one year before the chapel opened.

March 1, 2011 Mark Rothko didn't live to see the tranquil Houston chapel filled with his art — he committed suicide a year before it opened. But for the past 40 years, the sanctuary has served as a space for personal contemplation, interfaith dialogue and action for human rights.

A Hidden World Inside New York's Great Post Office

You can still mail a letter at the Farley Post Office, but most of the huge structure is deserted.

January 1, 2011 The Farley Post Office covers two city blocks. Thousands of people once worked there, but now it's largely abandoned. Inside is a whole forgotten world, complete with cafeteria, medical wing, photo studio and even a jail.
