When Science And Religion Collide

During meditation, activity in the brain -- specifically the parietal lobe is decreased. This area of the brain is responsible for giving us a sense of our orientation in space and time.

December 15, 2010 Doctors now study the effects of religion on the brain — an area called neurotheology. Researchers, such as Andrew Newberg, author of "Principles of Neurotheology," discovered that parts of the brain act differently when people meditate or pray.
