Paralympics Begin In London, Near 'Spiritual Home' Of Games

A team of torchbearers brings the Paralympic flame through Piccadilly Circus as the torch heads across London to the Olympic Stadium. The Paralympic Games' opening ceremony will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

August 29, 2012 More than 4,000 athletes from 147 countries will compete in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, where the opening ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. ET today. The U.S. contingent of 227 athletes includes 133 men and 94 women. Of the American Paralympians, 20 are U.S. military veterans.

NBC Will Stream The London Olympics Live — But Only To TV Subscribers

Many track fans watched online four years ago, as sprinter Usain Bolt set a world record at the Beijing Olympics. This year, NBC will stream video of all 302 events online. And Bolt, seen here showing his appreciation for video in 2010, will try to repeat his feat.

May 2, 2012 For the first time, American viewers of the Summer Olympics won't be limited by two words many sports fans loathe: "tape" and "delay." After years of saving the most popular events for prime time, NBC will also stream live video of the London Games, online and via mobile.

Olympic beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh says of this year's Summer Games: "We're feeling really good; we can't wait for London. We want to do what's never been done before, which is three consecutive gold medals."

April 11, 2012 U.S. beach volleyball star Kerri Walsh is honing her game for the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she and playing partner Misty May-Treanor hope to continue a streak of dominance that goes back to 2004. One thing that might help, she says, is her new sponsorship deal with Pampers.
