Feds Tell Insurers To Cover Birth Control

Before long, almost all insurers will have to cover birth control pills at no charge to women.

August 1, 2011 Starting a year from now, most new health insurance policies will have to include a comprehensive list of women's preventive health services with no copay or deductible. Under the rule, insurers would have to cover all prescription contraceptives approved by the FDA.

Americans To Health Plans: Pay For The Pill

June 9, 2011 Three-quarters of Americans favor insurance coverage of birth control pills, including under those policies bought with government assistance, an NPR-Thomson Reuters poll finds. Support is strongest among the young and those with at least a college degree.
