July 14, 2011 Reuters columnist David Cay Johnston says "there's no excuse" for the huge error he made Tuesday when he wrote that Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. had received billions of dollars in tax refunds, when in fact it had paid billions of dollars in taxes.

Reuters Retracts Column Saying News Corp. Got Billions In Tax Refunds
July 13, 2011 Columnist David Cay Johnston's report "is wrong and has been withdrawn," the wire service says. News Corp. changed the way it reports some figures in 2007 and the columnist mistakenly believed that what were actually tax payments were refunds.
