Two Deaths Reported After Shots At Coast Guard Station

April 12, 2012 Two Coast Guard members were shot and killed at a communications station Thursday morning, causing the base and nearby schools to be placed on lockdown. The attack took place at the Kodiak Base Communications Station, located some 250 miles southwest of Anchorage.

The Ryou-Un Maru after being fired upon and before it sank to the bottom of the Gulf of Alaska.

April 6, 2012 Photos and video show how the Coast Guard fired on the drifting Ryou-Un Maru to send it to the bottom of the Gulf of Alaska. It was a threat to ships passing through the area.
