Liz Taylor's Jewel-Dripping Collection On The Block

December 3, 2011 After a world tour, Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry, clothing and memorabilia is on view in New York City. After 10 days on display, some 2,000 objects from the film star's life will be up for auction, both at Christie's and online.

November 20, 2011 In New York City, nearly 4,000 young people are homeless every night — and a good number of them identify as gay, bisexual or transgender. But there are only 250 beds for them, which angers some advocates.

At The Met, 'Art Of The Arab Lands' Displays A Global Heritage

The Met's new galleries include examples of eye-catching calligraphy, like this page from the Quran that was written on indigo-dyed parchment in gold and silver, and originated in Tunisia around the 9th to mid-10th century.

November 4, 2011 After eight years of renovations, the Islamic galleries at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art have finally reopened. Its 15 rooms consist of some 1,200 objects that cover everything from architecture and interior design to images of living things — which Islam discourages — and calligraphy.

Designer Brings Muslim Fashion To The Runway

November 3, 2011 Nailah Lymus, a 27-year-old aspiring designer and Muslim woman, had her first runway show during New York City's Fashion Week. Her clothing line, Amirah Creations, aims for modesty, but is also "transitional" in catering to both Muslims and non-Muslims.
