SFJAZZ Collective Celebrates Wayne Shorter

Drummers Lead The Way At Kennedy Center
Sherrie Maricle and Cindy Blackman are band-leading drummers who barely ever take a break. In May, Maricle picked up the 2009 Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Award in Washington, D.C., and gigged in the Northeast. On break from playing for Lenny Kravitz, Blackman recently took her quintet on a tour of Spain.
