The 12th International AIDS Conference begins today in Geneva, Switzerland. Some 12-thousand top AIDS experts are gathering amid grim news about the spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. This past week, the United Nations reported the global spread of AIDS is far worse than ever predicted. Some 30-million are presently infected with HIV around the world; two-thirds in Africa. Guest host Frank Stasio discusses the report with Peter Piot, the head of the U-N AIDS program.
