In June, Weekend All Things Considered took you inside the USS Harry Truman, the Navy's latest nuclear powered aircraft carrier. Today, President Bill Clinton attended the Navy's commissioning of the USS Harry Truman in Norfolk, Virginia. This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of President Truman's orders to racially integrate the military. His namesake ship is the first carrier designed for a crew of both GENDERS. Mike Maus of the Naval/Airforce US Atlantic Fleet tells us about the ceremony.
