GUESTS: Desmond Tutu Former Archbishop of the Anglican Church of South Africa Robert W. Woodruff Visiting Professor of Theology, Emory University Chair, South Africa's Truth & Reconciliation Commission Archbishop Desmond Tutu is reknowned for his campaign against apartheid in South Africa. In 1996, he was appointed chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). In an effort to unite South Africans, this unique Commission aimed at getting to the truth of apartheid crimes against humanity. The TRC's final report, released in October, created intense emotions on all sides. It held both the apartheid government and freedom fighters accountable for various human rights violations. Host Ray Suarez talks with Bishop Tutu about his work on the TRC, the report, and what other countries might learn from the process.
