George Gershwin's most formal and classically-conceived large-scale work was his Concerto in F. Pianist Leon Bates joins conductor James DePriest and the Oregon Symphony for this performance, from a concert last year at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts. (Michael Johnson Recordings and Oregon Public Broadcasting) As an encore, Bates plays "I Got Rhythm," in concert at the George Mason University Center for the Arts in Fairfax, Virginia. (NPR)
