Program Offers Free Housing to Homeless

A new approach to reducing the number of homeless people across the country is yielding dramatic results.

Cities ranging from New York to Houston have been providing free housing to the chronically homeless, and are discovering that it actually saves money.

Philip Mangano of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness talks to Scott Simon about this new approach to an old problem.
