From R. Kelly to O.J. Simpson, when black public figures run afoul of the law, it can sometimes lead to a collective cultural embarrassment.

But do prominent black Americans still have to carry the weight of the race on their shoulders? Or has the emergence of Barack Obama changed that paradigm?

Judge Lynn Toler has been musing on this subject, and she shares her thoughts with Tony Cox. Toler is the star of TV's Divorce Court.
