March 23, 2009 - Will Oldham, who records and performs under the name Bonnie "Prince" Billy, has spent much of the past 15 years shaping and inspiring a generation of neo-folk artists that includes other wispy voiced singers, like Iron and Wine's Sam Beam and M. Ward. Oldham himself eschews traditional genre labels, but music critics agree his deeply emotional, sometimes primitive acoustic songs resonate with a rare beauty and literary vision.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy recently released his most ambitious recording to date, the richly orchestrated album Beware. Oldham visited with All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen about the new record and shared some of his all-time favorite songs that have inspired his own work over the years.
