N-P-R's Dan Charles reports how privacy concerns killed a plan to link medicaldata nationwide. The plan called for every American to be issued a uniquenumber that any doctor could use to retrieve the patient's medical history.Critics say the I-D card and number could be such a good individual identifierthat agencies, organizations and companies might want to use them for more thanhealth care purposes.
