Hamas Threatens Palestinian Authority

NPR''s Eric Weiner reports that Palestinian leader Yassir Arafat''s council of ministers and the PLO executive committee approved the Wye River agreement at a meeting Friday. The military arm of the radical Islamic group Hamas demanded that Arafat halt a roundup of Hamas activists or face violence. The threat cast a pall over this week''s efforts to begin implementing the Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.
