President Clinton Meets With Nigerian Ruler

NPR's Ted Clark reports that President Clinton in a meeting at the White House yesterday, commended Nigeria's new military ruler, Abdulsalam Abubakar, for moving his country towards democracy . The General came into power following the sudden death of General Sani Abacha in June. Some say his efforts to protect human rights and root out corruption may help lift U.S. sanctions imposed on Nigeria.
