Bellsouth's Long-Distance Bid Rejected

NPR's Larry Abramson reports that yesterday the Federal Communications Commission rejected BellSouth Corp.'s bid to offer long-distance service to its customers in Louisiana. According to the FCC BellSouth had not met the requirement for gaining long-distance approval in the 1996 Telecommunications Act of opening its local network to competitors.
